Tipperary Group of Stations has recently formed a collaborative applied research project partnership with James Cook University and Sensand Technologies to fight the impact of weeds on its stations.
The 3-year project has received $1.5m in grant funds from the Commonwealth Government’s Cooperative Research Centre Projects Program and is well-positioned to capitalise on the latest developments in agtech and applied research to achieve real commercial and environmental outcomes.
The project will use an Internet of Things (IoT) network with low-cost environmental sensors, drone mapping and big data analytics to develop, test and embed data-driven, strategic weed management programs – ultimately improving both cattle productivity and natural assets.
